FEMA opens sixth DRC in Virginia following Helene

Assignment objective: Shoot photojournalistic portraits of someone newsworthy or someone in a newsworthy situation. Incorporate a mix of posed and spontaneous photos.

On Oct 2, 2024 President Biden declared a major state of emergency in the state of Virginia after Hurricane Helene ripped through parts of the state. Six DRC’s were set up around the southwestern part of the state, including this one at the New River Fairgrounds in Dublin, Virginia.
